Trump hits golf course with Sen. Rand Paul

"I said, 'Don't take a vote, ' and we will see what happens", the president said in the interview. He said he thinks they may need a new construct to get everyone on the same page, adding he had a constructive conversation with Republican Rep. Charlie Dent of Pennsylvania, the co-chair of the moderate Tuesday group earlier in the day.

"I think it is, at this point, unproductive", Wilson, the GOP pollster, said of Trump threatening primary challengers against Freedom Caucus members.

But there was no evidence that the proposal won over any GOP opponents who'd forced Trump and party leaders to beat an unceremonious retreat on their bill on March 24, when they canceled a House vote that was doomed to failure.

Specifically targeted was Rep. Justin Amash (R-Mich.). Scavino says in the tweet that Trump is bringing auto plants and jobs back to MI and calls Amash a "big liability".

"We're at the concept stage right now", said House Speaker Paul Ryan. Now, the president has trained his fire on the HFC since the bill failed, allegedly warning Rep. Mark Meadows, R-N.C., the chairman of the caucus, "Oh Mark, I'm coming for you". In its place, there would be a two-year "open enrollment" period during which persons with pre-existing conditions could not be denied coverage.

A key sticking point appears to be certain "essential health benefits" included under Obamacare. Under Paul's proposal, insurance companies would be allowed to sell plans across state lines. Critics of ObamaCare argue that consumers are stuck with a system that is forcing prices up, and reducing options. Since the bill went down, Trump has repeatedly lashed out at members of the conservative House Freedom Caucus who contributed to the defeat.

Trump was also focusing on healthcare reform and its effect on Republican unity on Sunday.

However, the president now seems to be listening to what Rand Paul wants to do.

Trump has said, "One way or the other, I promised the people great health care". "I had a great time today with @realDonaldTrump and believe we are getting closer to an agreement on health care!", he tweeted. Now, it will be in one form or another. Vice President Mike Pence and two top White House officials made the offer Monday night in a closed-door meeting with members of the House Freedom Caucus.

Meanwhile, some House Freedom Caucus members, representing the most conservative Republicans who control Congress, were already criticising the revamped healthcare outline.

Trump told the Financial Times if the deal he is trying to negotiate doesn't gain enough support with Republicans, he will turn to Democrats for help.

The White House said in a statement that the tweet did not violate federal law "as it clearly comes from his personal account and not his official White House account". And the facts remain the same.

Jordan also repeated strong criticism of the AHCA and its handling by Republican leadership, saying: "Even Congress should be able to put together a piece of legislation that more than 17% of Americans like".

The outing came hours after Trump tweeted that talks to rework the nation's healthcare law were still under way. A top aide to President Donald Trump is urging the primary defeat of a conservative House member from MI.
