Chris Cornell's Funeral to Be Held this Friday in LA

As if you need reminding, Chris Cornell - grunge pioneer, vocal powerhouse and all-around music legend - tragically passed away on May 17th, 2017.

Incubus paid homage to Chris Cornell tonight with a powerful version Soundgarden's 1994 fan favorite, "Black Hole Sun".

"When the units arrived they were met by a gentleman who indicated that Chris Cornell had been found in his room".

"We're gonna do our best to send some love upstairs (to Cornell)", Taylor told the crowd.

However, a full autopsy was yet to be done.

However, Chris, 52, was found unresponsive in his hotel bathroom in the early hours of Thursday morning, with it later being confirmed that he had sadly died following a suspected suicide.

Rock musician Chris Cornell's wife on Friday disputed "inferences" that the rocker killed himself in a Detroit hotel room, saying he may have taken more of an anti-anxiety drug than he was prescribed.

I just did cold turkey, I knew my son was coming, and I was like, I'm not gonna be smoking with my son, that's not right. He said at the time: "It was like an internal battle".

Chris Cornell will be laid to rest in Los Angeles on Friday (May 26), according to the Associated Press.

The family will wait for toxicology test results to see whether Ativan may have impaired Chris Cornell's judgment before his death, attorney Kirk Pasich said.

Cornell's death is reported to have been "sudden and unexpected" and his family including his wife, Vicky Karayiannis, have asked for privacy during this hard time as medical professionals examine her husband's cause of death, which is as yet unknown.

He added, "He was a prolific songwriter, a legendary performer, a singer who had a voice for the ages and a philanthropic whose Chris and Vicky Cornell Foundation helped so many children around the world".

An MGM medic arrived at the room at 12:56 a.m., and EMS Unit 42 was at the scene by 1 a.m., after which an EMT unsuccessfully performed CPR on Cornell.

The singer had a prescription for Ativan and was a recovering addict throughout his entire life.
