Ghuggi quits AAP after Mann made Punjab chief

Waraich has resigned from the primary membership of the party, expressing displeasure over the process of Sangrur MP Bhagwant Mann's appointment as the new state unit chief.

About senior AAP MLASukhpal Singh Khaira, who also resigned from the post of chief whip on Monday when Mann was made state president, the latter said, "He is a senior colleague and I seek his support to run party affairs".

Non-Resident Indian (NRI) convenors and other office-bearers of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) have shot off a letter to national convenor Arvind Kejriwal, hoping to avoid the appointment of AAP Member of Parliament from Sangrur constituency, accusing Mann of being self-centric and rejecting any move to appoint him.

Ghuggi said he was not against the selection of Mann as the Punjab chief, but the manner in which it was done was not correct. Ghuggi, who is the former Punjab convener of the AAP, said that he would stay in politics but not be associated with the AAP.

Sandhu, who was the party candidate for Amritsar Lok Sabha bypoll, had opposed Mann's appointment as Punjab AAP chief.

Summary: Dhaliwal claimed that AAP's centre leadership had adopted a democratic way before finalising the name of Mann.

Sandhu said that AAP high command should consider appointing MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira as party's state chief.

Records show Saucedo was pulled over for allegedly running a red light on October 27, 2015, just a month after the first killing. The suspect then went on a killing spree from March of past year through July, police said.

He added that despite his suggestion to remove the 54 AAP observers in Punjab against whom there were complaints, Kejriwal refused to do so. "I did not expect this from him when the party gave him so much".

Fact: What did Ghuggi say? "They call this election process, this is not election process it is a farce", Ghuggi said.

"I have known Bhagwant Mann for many years, we have been colleagues and I am not upset with him as an individual, he said".

Ghuggi, however, didn't rule out the possibility of joining another political party. "I can't work under such leadership", Mr. Ghuggi told journalists here.

Reacting to Ghuggi's resignation, Khaira said he was saddened with this development as the party had lost a hardworking, clean and popular leader.

Ghuggi was removed from the post to make way for Mann, who was allegedly appointed on the condition that 'he will not drink'.
