Accused Leaker Reality Winner Ordered to Remain Jailed Pending Trial

The NSA document in question provided technical details on what it said were Russian attempts to hack election officials in the United States and a voting-machine firm before the presidential election in November, two USA officials with knowledge of the case have confirmed to Reuters.

It was one of the first concrete efforts by the administration of US President Donald Trump to crack down on leaks to the media.

Before her daughter was denied bail, her mother Billie Winner-Davis said "they're going to try to make an example out of her because of the political climate right now".

"Because my client is a millennial and she knows how to use technology, that's somehow proof of evil intent", said Titus Nichols, Winner's defense attorney.

The parents of a USA government contractor charged with leaking classified documents to a news organization insist she's not a flight risk and should be released from jail before her trial.

Prosecutors also said 25-year-old Reality Winner might try to flee the US if released on bond. She has been jailed in neighboring Lincoln County since her arrest, according to a booking report released by the sheriff.

Her stepfather said Reality Winner never expressed unpatriotic thoughts and "is a good person". "Everybody in America knows what she looks like at this point".

Although Winner strongly expressed violent reactions against Trump's presidency, she appears to be an enthusiastic, talented, healthy, and animal-loving individual among her peers. She has no record.

"For obvious reasons, she didn't share what she did".

European Union leader urges Trump not to ditch Paris climate deal
Withdrawing would leave the United States aligned only with Russian Federation among the world's industrialized economies. ExxonMobil CEO Darren Woods wrote a personal letter to Trump earlier this month, urging him to stick to the deal.

Reality Leigh Winner, a 25-year-old National Security Agency contractor accused of leaking classified information about Russian hacking to the media, wrote that she wanted to "burn the White House down" in notes confiscated from her home during a raid, federal prosecutors said in court on Thursday. The news outlet reportedly reached out to the NSA and showed them the highly classified documents it received from victor to make sure they were authentic and wouldn't severely compromise national security.

Victor is a former Air Force linguist who now works as a US government contractor.

The indictment alleges that victor, a former Air Force linguist, leaked the confidential information in May 2017 while employed at private contractor Pluribus International. "And she felt like she needed to give them what they were asking for at the time", Winner-Davis said.

"She served her country, she is a veteran", her stepfather, Gary Davis, told Cooper.

But on Twitter Winner followed Snowden, WikiLeaks, several accounts with links to the hacking collective, Anonymous, and several "alt" government agency accounts that became popular after Trump's inauguration. But the NSA has operated a $286 million complex in Augusta since 2012.

Solari argued that victor isn't the upstanding young woman her parents believe her to be.

"Winner further acknowledged that she was aware of the contents of the intelligence reporting and that she knew the contents of the reporting could be used to the injury of the United States and to the advantage of a foreign nation", the report said. Prosecutors said victor told her sister she would braid her hair and cry in court. If you would like to discuss another topic, look for a relevant article.
