Premier League retained lists could give clue over Zlatan Ibrahimovic future

The 35-year-old made quite the impact at Old Trafford after arriving from Paris St Germain last summer, penning a one-year deal with the option of another.

ARE expected to confirm Zlatan Ibrahimovic's departure on Friday when the club releases its annual player retention list.

According to sources at Sky Sports, Zlatan Ibrahimovic could headline the list of players released by the Premier League on Friday.

However, Ibrahimovic was brought in to do one thing at United, not necessarily score goals or win games but to bring back an air of arrogance, swagger and a ruthless streak to a side which has fallen well down from it's pedestal in recent years.

In his debut season at Old Trafford, Ibrahimovic scored 28 goals and supplied 10 assists before a serious knee injury ended his campaign prematurely in April.

Ibrahimovic scored 28 goals, including a victor in the EFL Cup final against Southampton, before suffering a knee injury during United's Europa League quarter-final against Anderlecht. And with his recovery expected to continue for a number of months, United have begun to look for a replacement in the summer transfer market.

Reported target Romelu Lukaku appears close to leaving Everton for former club Chelsea, while Torino striker Andrea Belotti and Real Madrid's Alvaro Morata are other options.
