Subaru BRZ STi Will Only Look The Part

Traditionally, the Type RA is a more hardcore version of the WRX STI, and that won't be an exception this time around. The carmaker even showcased an STI Performance Concept at the 2015 New York International Auto Show.

As of the moment, there is not much specs to go on regarding the upcoming Type RA.

Enthusiasts have been hoping for a hotter version of the BRZ, tweaked by Subaru's famous STi division and with more power, essentially since the vehicle was first introduced.

It's actually a bit unclear which record Subaru is aiming for, with the Japanese automaker simply saying it wants the "new lap record for a four-door sedan". It's marked out by red detailing in the grille, extra bonnet vents and a pretty big rear wing. "Part of the on-track footage above was filmed in truly ridiculous rainfall". It has a 600-hp boxer coupled with a hydraulically shifted racing gearbox, and a pneumatically adjustable rear wings.

Capsule preview of the Warriors-Cavaliers NBA Finals matchup
In their nightmares the Cavaliers will see Durant sprinting down the middle of the court, and slamming down an uncontested dunk. The Cavaliers didn't score for the first three minutes and 56 seconds of that period, while the Warriors went on a 13-0 run.

Now the four-door lap record is help bu the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio.

The video below of a race-prepped Type RA NBR (for Nürburgring) Special splashing through the rain indicates where a production version might head. The weather in Nurburg, Germany on the day of the record attempt was awful. Subaru has chosen a driver who has 'Ring experience.

In addition to the carbon-fiber roof, we'll likely see enhanced aerodynamics, a re-tuned suspension, and possibly a more potent engine.
