'Vicious' inmates found in Tennessee after escaping from Georgia prison

The reward for the two escaped convicts accused of killing two Georgia correctional officers Tuesday is now up to $130,000.

"It has become a nationwide search", LeValley said during the manhunt.

"They will be brought to justice swiftly for their heinous crime against our Officers", he said, also expressing gratitude to all of the law enforcement officers who provided support and assistance in the search for the two men.

Sills described the fugitives as violent repeat offenders and extremely unsafe, having taken the guards' 9 mm pistols. "These are risky, seriously unsafe, vicious hoodlums".

"It has become a nationwide search", said Special Agent David LeValley, who runs the Federal Bureau of Investigation office in Atlanta.

Veteran correctional officers Christopher Monica, 42, and Curtis Billue, 58, were killed near Eatonton, Ga., around 6:45 a.m.

Thirty to 40 minutes later, the camera showed them driving past in the pickup, Sills said.

Sills said it was hard to determine if the two men were being helped by anyone on the outside but said there were an infinite number of possibilities since both men have friends and family in the area.

"They are risky beyond description", Sills added.

Donnie Rowe, 43, and Ricky Dubose, 24, were stopped in a vehicle on Interstate 24 before they were arrested, WGCL-TV reported.

Officials said Dubose, 24, is also a hardened criminal despite his relative youth, and a member of the notorious "Ghostface Gangsters" white supremacist group.

And they're urging people to take care.

"They were inside the caged area of the bus", Sills said.

They escaped Tuesday after overpowering the guards on a Baldwin State Prison bus.

Authorities said Donnie Rowe and Ricky Dubose were captured Thursday in Tennessee after leading police on a chase by vehicle and by foot. "If somebody is helping them and we find out who they are, they will be prosecuted as participants in this crime, there's no doubt about that".

Both Rowe, 43, and Dubose were convicted of armed robbery and other violent crimes, and have been cellmates a couple of times in Georgia's prisons.

Authorities warned that the men, who had escaped with the guards' 9 mm pistols, were considered very risky.

"Both officers were known for their unwavering commitment to their job and their love of family", the Georgia Department of Corrections said in a statement.

Dozier said that when he was alerted to their deaths, "The pain and anguish that was in the toes of my feet went up to my heart".

Rowe is serving life without parole for armed robbery and Dubose is serving a 20-year sentence for armed robbery, according to the Georgia Department of Corrections.
